Courtyard Mercado Block
A mixed-use commercial block inspired by traditional Mexican architecture, featuring white stucco facades, deep-set windows, and shaded arcades that respond to the local climate.
Design Concept
The design draws on traditional Mexican architecture and adapts it to a contemporary mixed-use setting. White stucco facades keep the block bright and cohesive, while deep-set windows and shaded arcades respond to the local climate by cutting down heat and glare.
Program & Street Life
Retail spaces sit at street level, with accommodation placed above. This layout keeps the ground floor active and pedestrian friendly, so the block feels lively throughout the day rather than just a place to pass through.
Form & Materials
Repetitive gabled forms give the block a strong rhythm and a distinctive identity along the street. Warm material accents soften the white facades, helping create a comfortable and vibrant public realm.
